The service counter at Neat Bird needed to follow an unusual footprint, coordinate with equipment and openings, and carry a color strong enough to become part of the restaurant’s identity.

Hâpax developed and fabricated the concrete surface as a custom assembly. The work began with the existing counter geometry, then moved through color development, forming, reinforcement, casting, finishing, delivery, and installation.

The approach

The counter’s length and curved end made proportion, piece layout, penetrations, support, and installation access part of the design from the beginning. A saturated green finish was tested and carried across the surface so the completed counter would read as one continuous gesture through the room.

Shop fabrication allowed the geometry and openings to be resolved before the pieces reached the site. Once installed, the concrete gives the restaurant a durable working surface and a visual line that immediately distinguishes the space.

The result

The finished counter is practical, specific, and unmistakably tied to its setting. Its form organizes the service area; its color gives the room an identity; and its concrete construction gives the surface the material presence a standard product could not provide.
